Villa Santina / The early christian basilica

Recent archaeological excavations at the ancient burial site of Col di Zuca have uncovered an important building complex dating back to the 5th century AD, including the remains of an early Christian basilica with a rectangular hall and no apse. Part of the original mosaic floor (the only example in Carnia) is still visible and displays stylistic features directly reminiscent of those of the Basilica of Aquileia. Also visible are the remains of a baptism immersion pool.
